Cernit Doll Collection

There is also a special material Cernit Doll Collection – polymer clay, which is necessary for sculpting dolls. After baking, this clay is very strong, with a slight porcelain translucency. This plastic is used to model large figures using a frame. All this makes Cernit a popular material among experts; it is perfect for fairly thin objects. You will be able to add Cernit to other clay brands to get more reliable, durable products.

The main characteristics of Cernit baked polymer clay, work with the material:

Cernit is a hard material before sculpting and needs to be kneaded well. But Cernit should be kneaded a bit longer, as some of these polymer clay tones may crumble before being kneaded. Cernit polymer clay can be overheated (like any other), it can “float” slightly. It is possible to fix this – put aside the material for a short period and continue to work later.
Like all the clays of this kind, Cernit can be smoothed out easily with hands soaked in water or with a wet wipe. Products made of Cernit material are durable are very smooth after proper baking.

Certain tones change their shade after baking, specifically, such series as CERNIT-OPALINE is becoming porcelain (wax-like) after baking, and the CERNIT-TRANSLUCENT series is getting almost transparent. For this reason, Cernit polymer clay darkens slightly after baking, due to its translucency, the color seems to be a bit brighter than before baking.
Both professionals and beginners can easily buy Cernit and use it in their work.

Polymer clay Cernit should be baked at 265 degrees Fahrenheit (130 degrees C) in a pre-heated oven. Baking time up to 30 minutes, it depends on the thickness of the particular product. As practice has shown, the best baking temperature is a couple of degrees lower (this is the safest option). Some professionals say that baking the clay at a slightly higher temperature (3-5 degrees Fahrenheit higher than in the instructions) will make it even stronger. BUT this requires a very accurate thermometer for the oven, and we do not advise you to do this! If the baking temperature is greatly exceeded, then, this polymer clay will begin to burn and give off an unpleasant smell that is harmful to our health, like any other manufacturer’s clay.
After purchasing and unsealing the packaging, you should store Cernit polymer clay in a plastic wrap.

Warning:
Attention, Cernit should not be baked in the microwave! Bake at a temperature not higher than it is specified in the instructions! The polymer clay will burn and release dangerous substances for the human body if you will not regulate the temperature. Avoid prolonged contact with plastic (plastic material) before baking. These cautions concern absolutely all baked clays, and Cernit in particular.

How to work with Cernit polymer clay:

Polymer clay Cernit should be handled with clean hands and on clean surfaces.
Cernit in various colors can be mixed until smooth to obtain a variety of shades. For example, you can make a lighter shade by mixing the desired tone with matt white Cernit. You can make an imitation of turquoise, onyx, marble, etc., by mixing with different colors, not to uniformity.
Shaping: figures are made from the simplest forms during sculpting. First, tubes, plates, balls, or cones are sculpted from which more complex elements are made, and then they are all put together. Fingerprints and tool marks are smoothed out by hand or with a wet wipe. This video for beginners shows this point very well:

Baking: Turn on the oven, set it to 265 degrees Fahrenheit, put the product in, wait for the oven to heat up, and note the time, do not exceed the baking time specified in the instructions. Put the Cernit product on glass, foil, or ceramic tiles. Bake Cernit for not more than 30 minutes.
You can drill holes in polymer clay, paint, polish, varnish the product after baking. For painting, you need to use water-based acrylic paints, special varnishes for baked clay – for varnishing.
An already finished product can be glued to any object (metal, glass, wood). The epoxy glue is used for this purpose, which adheres reliably and does not react with plastic.
It is obligatory to avoid contacts with unbaked Cernit plastic with foamed polystyrene, PVC.

VERY IMPORTANT:
Cernit polymer clay is not forbidden for children under 8 years old, the same as all baked polymer clays of any other brand! If this polymer clay appears in the hands of a child, he needs to sculpt under the supervision of an adult. Think about it before you buy this kind of clay for sculpting for kids!

Consist of Cernit polymer clay: PVC and plasticizer.
Utilization: no regulations (can be disposed of with regular garbage).
Safety Precautions: Do not heat above 265 degrees Fahrenheit, do not bake for more than half an hour! If you feel a smell, immediately turn off the oven and ventilate the room!

Cernit is a wonderful art material. Children under 8 years old must be supervised by an adult. After work with it, you must wash your hands with soap and water carefully. It is forbidden to bake in a microwave oven. Avoid contact with fire or heating appliances. Bake indoors with a hood or with open windows. After baking, it is advisable to ventilate the room and wash the oven.

This clay is not recommended to be boiled as the boiling point is 100 ° C. This temperature is not enough, the product will turn out to be fragile and will break easily.
